Sometimes you'll be forced to change one when a string snaps. But usually, you'll simply want to change them, as strings lose their brightness and wear out.

The amount of time you leave between change strings varies depending on several factors. If you play your guitar regularly, then you might like to change your strings once a week or once a month.

Most Professional guitarists tend to change their strings before each gig. But in the end, it all comes down to a matter of personal preference. Please bear in mind if you're using your guitar for a gig, is that your strings need a few hours of play to break in properly. During this time, your strings will go out of tune as they stretch so you'll have to retune.

Anyway, here's are some actions that you have to do:
Remove the old strings by detuning the machine heads until the tension becomes loose enough to allow you to pull each string away from the headstock.

Another quick way to remove the old strings is to snip them using a pair of wire cutters. Be very careful if you do it this way, and make sure they are loose, since the bare ends of the strings can be sharp and easily flap around. Bare guitar strings are amongst the many things you DO NOT want to catch in your eye.

How you go about installing your new strings will usually depend on the type of guitar you have, as many guitars have slightly different methods. However, the strings are usually held in place at one end by fixtures behind or on the bridge, and at the other by turning the machine head on the headstock.

Here's a small insider tip guitarists have been using for years to get more life from your steel strings once you've removed them: Boil them.

Dropping a set of strings into a pan of boiling water for 10 to 15 minutes will remove a lot of the grimy build up and bring a new life back to what would otherwise be lifeless strings.

It won't last for very long, and you can't get away with doing it too many times, but it can be an effective temporary measure.

I wouldn't suggest you rely on this technique too much, strings aren't too expensive - and using new strings saves you a lot of hassle.

Regardless of what kind of guitar you have, your strings need to be stretched after you've put them on. When you first tune your guitar, put your hand under each string around the pickup area, pull the string a few centimeters away from the fretboard, then release it. If the pitch has dropped, retune and repeat the process. Keep doing this until all the strings stay in tune.

On most electric guitars the strings are either secured at the bridge end by an independent tailpiece (like most Gibson guitars), or passed through the body of the instrument from the back into an all-in-one bridge unit (like most fender style guitars).

At one end of every steel string, you will find a tiny disc of metal around which one end of the string is wrapped. This is called the ball end.

Take the opposite end of the string and thread it through the fixture at the bridge.

Pull the string through until the ball end stops you from pulling the string any further.

Most electric and steel-string guitars use a similar system for securing strings at the machine head. The capstan to which the string is attached stands out vertically from the headstock. Strings can be passed through a hole in the side of the capstan.

The end is then passed around and under, trapping it in place when the machine head is tightened. Some capstans have vertical slots instead of holes. To use these, cut the string to length, and insert into the tip of the capstan. Then bend the string to one side and wind it around.

This leaves the string endings neat and tidy.
Here's what you do next: Slowly turn the machine head for each string, increasing the tension until the string becomes suitably tight.

To save yourself time and energy, you can use a cheap plastic string winder, which simply fits over the machine head allowing you to crank it along more quickly.

Benefits of Guitar Learning

Spend some time to read this article as it states some of the most exciting and fulfilling benefits when you have learned to master the techniques and chords in the phase of play guitar music.

Benefit 1
Playing a guitar enhances your brain to work and to initiate such signals that commands your hands on mentally memorizing where to put your finger on a particular fret, pressing on the right chord and engaging in the proper manner of strumming.

Benefit 2
The pleasure of gratification is satisfied. Thus, your self-esteem is working its way through your personality. A book once said, a psychological book to be exact, that men has to satisfy basic needs to be able to advance to his self to the highest level which is the self-actualization. Something like that.

Benefit 3
Let's face the fact that a guitar is one of the most convenient instruments there is. You can't bring your drums wherever you go. It would be exhausting on your part to carry a drum set around your campus and constantly beat it. It can cause so much distraction. Whereas if you have been a full pledged guitarist your whole life, you could play music where you can.

Benefit 4
Being able to drag your guitar around town, might as well earn something from it. A talent like that would not go on unnoticed. Playing along the streets of downtown is not really the idea but if you consider it, then yes, you could try. You could ask some of your friends to back you up.

Benefit 5
You, yourself, is a unique individual. Out of ten people only one becomes a pure musician. And by some luck, that person is a guitarist. Or can be someone with pure musical talent who can play not only the guitar but similar instruments or some percussion ones. Some say it is taught but real talent comes from deep inside. It is that spirit within you that makes you distinct.

Benefit 6
Nobody can call you a loser with no specific talent. Yes, you could flunk all of your exams and miss every graded recitation during class hours but when school or house parties come, you are the star.

Benefit 7
Everyone can hate you or mess you up. But the moment you have learned to become a master in your own craft, everyone will recognize how good you are. Even those who never or didn't know you will find an effort to. People will love you for the talent that you are.

More advantages are viewed just by playing the guitar. Playing is one thing but mastering is another. So if you are still struggling to play such tunes, don't give up that dream. Even though it's just a hobby or past time, who knows, with such skill, it could take you to new heights. Something brighter. Something more intense. Something close to Hollywood.

How to be a Guitarist

True interest in playing guitar comes from a burning desire to be what your heroes are. Its a blind passion. But, before you even pick up a guitar, you must first ask yourself these questions:
* Do I listen to music differently than my friends who don't play guitar?
* When it comes to listening to music, do I see myself being able to not only play all of the guitar parts, but be able to play all of the guitar parts on stage?
* Do I see myself playing guitar above anything else under GOD?

If you answered "yes" to all of these questions, chances are you have what it takes to become a serious guitarist. Now, you should pick up your guitar, and if the burning passion's there, never put it down. Never let it go. By now, you should know that playing guitar is much more than just something that you do, You are a musician, and that's not just something that you do, its who you are. So be proud, not just anybody can say their a musician. Your an artist, and that's a beautiful thing.

Now that you've figured out that you are a serious guitarist, you should now set out to be the best guitarist that you can possibly be. You are about to set out on a lifelong journey. a very fulfilling journey of mastering your craft.

So what do I do first? You might ask. You get lessons, buy books on learning guitar, video tape your heroes every time their on television, and then study them, whatever it takes to increase your skill as a guitarist. You should keep in mind that no matter what, if the passion is there, you will learn. So don't worry if you can't afford lessons, or afford books on learning guitar, if you have the undying desire and burning passion with or without help. No matter if the odds are in your favor or if the odds are stacked against you.

How do I know? Well, since me and my brother were old enough to remember, we've had a very close kinship, and a great understanding of music. But, unfortunately, our family was very poor. We were twelve before we got a guitar to create on. Our parents couldn't afford guitar lessons, so what we did was got our friends that were learning to play at the same time, and borrow their books on guitar, and then we would watch as they played the way their teachers taught them to play. We practiced night and day. We very rarely played outside like other kids. We never learned to swim because we played guitar all the time, we didn't go swimming. But, because we sacrificed so much for our craft, it wasn't long before our skill was unparalleled by our peers and we were teaching our friends teachers. We were showing guitarists twice or three times our age who were playing guitar before we were even born. We didn't have a guitar teacher, yet by the time we were the age of fifteen, we were the teachers. When we played talent shows at our high school, we were the talk of the school and very respected.

Now, I'm not saying by any means that you have to do to become a great guitarist. I'm just saying that this is how me and my twin brother learned. You should take your own path. Your path is always the best path to take.

Self-Test to Determine if You Are Ready to Learn Play Guitar Music

Play guitar music is a great way to express yourself through music. The truth is that the guitar is one of the easiest instruments to learn if you keep on practice it.

To teach yourself how to play guitar music, you will need to search online for some basic guitar information. First of all, you have to look for a chart of guitar chords. Most probably you can find free guitar chords online or guitar book from any old thrift shop.

The next action is that figure out how to play guitar chords. As a guitar beginner, you are not necessary to learn a lot of different chords for play guitar music. Below are few steps for you to learn G chords:

Step 1 - Look at your left hand and, ignoring your thumb, number your other fingers 1, 2, 3, and 4, starting with your index finger and ending with your pinkie.

Step 2 - In looking at a chord chart, you will see that your index finger (number 1) should be placed on the second fret on the fifth string.

Step 3 - Next, your middle finger (number 2) is to be placed on the third fret of the sixth string.

Step 4 - The ring finger (number 3) is to be placed on the third fret of the first string. Note: The first string is the highest pitched.

Step 5 - Lastly, when all your fingers are correctly in place, strum the strings.

As a guitar beginner learning how to play guitar music, you may notice that when you first learn to play guitar chords, that some of the strings sound dead. This could cause by few reasons but the most common factor is due to you did not press hard enough.

In addition, for proper chord playing, be sure that your fingers are placed squarely on each string and avoid touching the middle three strings with your fingers (they should be left open). If you are touching the middle strings, you will deaden their sound. Also, be sure that you are pressing the strings between the little fret bars, and not right on top of them.

Once you've mastered the G chord, you'll be ready to learn more guitar chords. You will find that there are hundreds of guitar chords that you can learn. However, as a guitar beginner, you only need to learn a few chords to play your first guitar song. The G, C, D, and E minor chords are some of the most useful chords you have to learn in play guitar lesson.

5 Tips for You Easy to Play Guitar Songs

In the following article, you will get guitar playing tips to help you easy to play guitar songs. So let's get started...

1) The first tip of easy to play guitar songs is to use good posture while guitar playing

You should sit up straight in an armless chair. If the chair has arms, you will not be able to hold the guitar properly for playing. Sit up straight to protect your back.

If you get a backache after a bit of playing, you will realize how having good posture while playing the guitar is so important.

2) The next tip of easy to play guitar songs is to hold the pick firmly but not too firmly.

If you do not grip the pick firmly enough, you may lose it during a vigorous bout of strumming! But if you grip it too tightly, you may find your whole arm getting tired. Middle of the road is the best guitar playing tip I can give you where pick grip is concerned.

3) Choosing the right pick is another tip for you easy to play guitar songs

Picks come in finger and flat styles. Most guitarists use a flat one. They also come in three different levels of flexibility.

Several professional guitarists have given me the advice of getting the softest, flabbiest pick I can find for learning to keep up with fast strumming. It's easier on the arm. Flabby picks are harder to use, however, if you are trying to pick out individual strings, as in adding a bass line, or flat-picking.

After some practice with a soft pick, you will probably want to move on to a firmer one. A final guitar playing tip about picks is that the firmest picks make the richest sounds.

4) Learn to play arpeggios at beginning stage

It's fun, great for old folk songs, and sounds beautiful! You won't be able to use a pick, though. Finger the chord. Now, pick the bass note of the chord with your thumb. You can use a thumb pick for this, however, it works just fine to use your thumb. You will grow a little callus there which will make it easier.

Now use your index finger to pluck the third string. Next, pluck the second string with your middle finger. And then pluck the top string with your ring finger. You've picked four notes.

If you repeat the sequence, giving each note the timing of an eighth note, you will fill a measure of a song written in four/four time. This guitar playing tip will make people sit up and take notice, but it does require practice, and calluses, to play this way. Try playing the strings in different order, and alternate bass strings.

5) A final tip is involves the chord D for you easy to play guitar songs

While playing the D chord, try adding your pinkie finger to the chord at the third fret. This new chord is often called "D-suspended" or "D-sus." Then play D again. Now try lifting your middle finger so that the top string of the chord is open. And back to D again.

You can do the same thing with the A-chord, but have to do the change on the second string. Up one fret to the third makes A-sus, and you can also lift that finger to go down a step on that second string. C-suspended requires you to go up a half step on the fourth string. G-suspended requires you to do it on the fifth string. Learning suspended chords is a guitar playing tip you'll find yourself using when you play contemporary songs.

I hope you've found these tips of easy to play guitar songs helpful. It's important to remember that the best way to improve your guitar playing skills is to practice, practice, practice. Practice make prefect!

How To Practice Guitar

If desire is the most important part of learning play guitar music(without it you wouldn't have even started), then concentration is the most important part of learning guitar.

Many people are discouraged when they are told how much time they must put into practice. The truth is, you don't have to practice all the time to be a good guitarist. (I'm not saying you shouldn't have time to goof off and play around. But if you want to improve quickly, you must keep playing guitar and practicing guitar separate.)

It isn't how much time you put into practice, it's the quality of the practice that matters.

When I play guitar music, I play to have fun, I play to perform for people, and I play for the fun of playing! That's why I started learning guitar in the first place.

But when I practice guitar, I focus and concentrate on what I'm trying to achieve, and I work on the goals that I want to complete. You see, if you completely focus on one thing you are more likely to do it well.

This may sound simple too to some. Some of you may be thinking this is great, I only need to practice 20 minutes a day and ill improve more than I would if I practicing 2 hours a day?

Well that's not exactly true. Its how focused your practice is that counts, not how long you practice. Can you really focus for 2 hours?

Let me give you this small example to illustrate my point.

Picture a red triangle inside a black box.

Close your eyes, and keep that image in your mind for 5 seconds without letting a single thing distract you. Is no other thought must enter your mind for that 5 seconds? How well did you do? Be honest with yourself.

This isn't an easy thing to do. Most people find this difficult at first. Its difficult to keep a focused mind like this. I hope this example has shown you that it's not that easy to keep focused attention & concentration for look periods of time.

But still, you must always remember that its quality and not quantity of practice that makes the difference between a great player and an average player. This is a perfect time to tell you that you shouldn't be spending hours and hours practicing because you simply can't focus for that amount of time.

If you are practicing for a solid 2 hours or more you are probably not helping your development as a guitarist that much.A much better way of using this time is to practice in bursts.

A good idea would be to practice in bursts of 20 minutes or so. You can vary it depending on what you feel like doing, but try not to practice for long periods of time in one go. It's not helping as much as you think it might be.

Also, it's important to take breaks from what you're practicing. You can do something else for awhile, go for a walk, watch TV, or maybe just play around and have fun with your guitar and loosen up a bit before you start focusing on practice again.

It is important for you to have a definition in your own mind of practicing guitar and playing guitar? This will keep you more focused and allow you to reach your goals as a guitarist much easier.

An exercise for you to try to help you further develop concentration is to sit silently and count slowly from one to ten in your mind.If anything should interrupt your counting, whether it is a noise, a stray thought, or the awareness of your own breathing, you must start over from one.

Again, it's unlikely you will be able to achieve this straight-away. It's a hard thing to do. However how out and 'Zen' this exercise may seem, it will re-focus your mind on the task in hand, and it'll help you learn faster if you can stay focused on what you're practicing.

You should try this exercise whenever you start to feel like you're loosing your focus.

Guitar Playing Must Be A Passion

The first time I picked up a guitar my whole life changed. I think I slept with it the night when I brought my first new guitar home. It's a bit embarrassing to admit, but it is true. I told myself I want to play guitar like a pro guitarist.

Then I plugged it in and hit those first magic notes? Wow did it sound awful, maybe the worst noise I ever heard in my life. So I enrolled to a play guitar lesson and started my journey in the music world some 23 years ago, I found my one and only mistress, the guitar.

Today I am happily married with 3 kids, a real job, and my guitars. The only thing my wife has ever been jealous over is my guitars. I told her once I could have girlfriends or guitars, she said she'll settle for the guitars. Thus is the secret to a happy marriage.

Oh more importantly, the guitars. No two are the same, even the same model, made in the same year, with sequential serial numbers, are going to play and sound different. They have their own personalities, their own feel and their own mood swings.

Every week I go to a friend's house, or a local store and just pickup every guitar I can and play guitar for a few minutes. It really is an obsession. I think, dream and dwell on playing guitar 24 Hours a day.

Do you have a passion for guitar playing as well? As humorous as this may sound, many of my playing friends say the same thing. You can never have enough guitars, or spend enough time playing your guitar.

Learn How to Play Rock Guitar

Although the electric guitar has originated in blues music, it is rock that gave its popularity. With rock music, the electric guitar became a massively expressive instrument. All play guitar lessons have to touch on rock as well, but if you want to learn to play rock guitar, there are special modules you can take up. These modules focus almost exclusively on rock music.

The things you will be taught when you learn to play rock guitar can be roughly spread into three modules: first lessons, where you will learn the basics about playing the guitar, electric guitar improver and power chords.

First Play Guitar Lesson
These lessons are mostly for beginners who want to play guitar music. If you have some knowledge about playing the guitar, you may skip some of these. This is up to your teacher to decide.

However, if you're holding a guitar for the first time, this is where your teacher will usually start. You will be taught the fundamentals about playing a guitar in general and playing rock guitar in particular. You will learn the basics about rock lead guitar and power chords. After these first lessons, you will have some idea on how to play classic rock guitar. If you get these right, you are on your way to actually playing rock guitar.

Electric Guitar Improver
In the next play guitar lessons, you will probably be taught various rock techniques, such as sliding, string-bending, pull-offs, vibrato and hammer-ons. These tips will enable you to play some fairly good rock solos. You will also learn about scales and chords that will help you start making up your own music.

There might be a lot of blues references within these lessons. Going through all these will help you understand the relation between blues and rocks, which is essential if you want to learn to play rock guitar like a pro.

Power Chords
Power chords are two or three string distorted sounding chords used in some of the most popular rock songs of all times. You will learn to play several rock songs during the first few lessons of this module. It is really important to get a good teacher to teach you the technique skills and to help you to perfect them. Many famous, and not so famous, lead guitarists will tell you they never stop learning, never stop practicing and never stop perfecting their style. Playing guitar is and expression of your talent, you need to practice and perfect your craft.

Position to Learn

Most people don't realize that when you first start to learn to play lead guitar it is helpful to practice sitting down. This gives you much more control over your instrument and allows you to concentrate on the actual music you are practicing. This might be difficult for some but whether you decide to sit or to remain standing you must always remember to have both feet flat on the ground and to sit with your back straight. This will help you to avoid back strain or injury.

Hand Position

When you learn to play lead guitar you will soon realize that one of the most important things to learn is how to position your hands. If you start from the beginning with the correct hand positions you will find it much easier later to move through the different chords with ease. It also lets you react quickly if one of your fellow musicians has a problem and makes a mistake. At first it will seem very difficult especially if you have been using incorrect hand positions in the past. Stick with it, practice hand positions regularly, it will pay off in the end when you sound professional.

Attitude

Attitude, and by this we don't mean having a bad attitude, is a very important thing to pay attention to. Attitude affects your body language and this is important when you learn to play lead guitar. Watch successful lead guitarists and see how they always look so much more confident than their back-up guitarists. That's attitude!

Discipline

When you first learn to play lead guitar it is easy to be disciplined. Your initial enthusiasm makes it easy to be able to spend hours trying new music and techniques. As you improve it is easy to settle in to a level that is good but maybe not excellent. It takes discipline to maintain a level of practice that will constantly improve your skills. Discipline is what separates an average lead guitarist from a brilliant one. One good tip is to write out a program and set a schedule with small goals along the way to keep you motivated and on track.

Leadership skills

Leadership skills are important to have if you want to be a lead guitarist. You will be the one people look to for guidance, you will be responsible for all the musicians in the group. You need to be able to pay attention to what everyone is playing and be able to cover mistakes that may happen during a song. This may take a while to get really good at but you should always be training yourself. Try to listen while you are playing and you will improve. This skill will grow if you start right from the beginning when you learn to play lead guitar.

An Easy To Learn Guitar Tunes

When you first start learning to play the guitar you really want easy to learn guitar tunes to start with. You're learning new things by doing the work, here, this is playing guitar, simple. By saying that, i mean playing guitar, not pulling the strings with no reason at all. And when you're practicing, there is one thing you should never do and that is you must never, ever do it in a rush, just take your time and the results will come.

The next important thing is you need to get organized while learning new stuff. You need to start at the beginning and start playing simple chords and stuff like that. When playing guitar, just remain as relaxed as possible, relieving the tension off. The tension in your body prevents you from playing correctly and this is wrong way.

Practice every day, every single day, if that is possible, if not, just try doing it in some order, just never quit for a longer period of time and then start again. This is not the way to learn how to play guitar, it does no good for your playing. So, get habitual at playing guitar and i can almost guarantee, you'll learn fast.

The other important thing, when learning how to play guitar is, you need to play the music you like. Don't start to play songs you don't like, because that will only get yourself frustrated and consequently get the wrong results or no at all. As what i'm going to say next, may sound stupid for some, believe me, it is not. You need to write your goals down, like what do you want to achieve, how much time are you willing to invest into learning to play guitar and why you want it!

When playing guitar, always use a metronome. It can and will improve your timing and make your playing sound better for sure. When finding a problem, try first to overcome that problem, don't rush to some other stuff, because it gets boring or start doing other things just because you don't like the things you need to learn. When you become persistent and learn how to play guitar the right way, the results will come and you could soon realize you are playing better and better, and that's probably the reason, why you even started to learn how to play guitar the right way.

Learn to Play Guitar Online - Discover Guitar Lesson Tools

You can learn to play guitar online - and it's never been easier.

Whether you wish to become a jazzy crooner, a country strummer or a jamming rock star, the guitar is one of the easiest instruments to learn. Guitarist ask me quite often why they are not at the level that they desire and what can they do. In the past I have asked myself the very same question. Soon I began
to understand the answers.

Just as you have probably done, I have read a lot of how to play guitar interviews and articles from great guitarplayers. I often found it frustrating whenever the subject of learn to play guitar came up or when advice was offered on improving someone's playing. With a few exceptions, little time and space was ever devoted on this.

It is not uncommon to see a guitar player give advise to learn to play the guitar summed up in as little as three words: Practice! Practice!! Practice!!!

I remember when I first was learning how to play guitar I would practice on some days so long that the ends of my fingers would be tender to the touch and hurt for days.

We all know that practicing is the main ingredient. Does a football player practice a few times and then is able to play up to the caliber of an NFL football player?

Rarely are we told anything more than on how to play the guitar then to just practice. In my long quest to become an excellent player I carefully took note of what worked and what did not - which parts conventional wisdom are
accurate and which parts are (at least in my opinion) are not. I believe the following five tips have proven to bring great results to those who use them:

1. Educate yourself! It doesn't matter what current level you at can and should always learn guitar more. If you are currently in a position to learn guitar online, studying a home guitar study course, or have a teacher for you to learn how to play guitar then your on the right track. If you are not doing this (or if you feel that your current home study course is not helping you enough in reaching your goals) I strongly recommend looking for a new one.
I can not stress enough how important it is to find a good home study course that is right for you! Your home study course (or teacher) should always be Goal Orientated. If its not look for another course or teacher to study with! You don't need a home study course or teacher to simply give you information or things to practice - you can get those things anywhere, what you need is a study course or teacher who:

A. Knows what your goals are.
B. Cares about helping you reach your goals.
C. Knows how to help you reach your goals.

2. Listen to more music. This is really something that helped me. There is a lot of music out there that you have not heard. I am sure you can find something you really like and that would inspire you. Look on the internet if you can not find it on the conventional radio. Check out internet radio. You can customize what you hear based on your preferences; its a great
tool! Check out web sites that you know feature a lot of the music in the style you like. Listen to the guitarist in the background. Listen to the strum patterns, picking or anything else the guitarist is doing.

3. Turn your musical frustrations into an asset in the form of a motivating force. I used to get frustrated when I was trying to learn how to play guitar. I would use this frustration to motivate me to play the next day and then
the next day and all afternoon sometimes.

4. Believe in yourself. You have probably heard that phrase many times before. It's sad how many people don't believe in their beliefs or themselves. If you don't believe in yourself, you will not grow as a guitarist. I always in
my mind say, "I can do it; I know I can." This can be a driving force no matter what you want to accomplish in life. If you start something and never thought you could accomplish it in the first place than you probably will
not.

5. Understand that becoming a better guitarist means becoming a better musician as well. When developing your musical skills, make sure to think beyond the skills that are specific to guitar. You will be working on many guitar skills - various guitar techniques, chords, scales, soloing, etc., - but don't neglect other skills that are not guitar specific like ear training (also called aural skills and very important), songwriting, improvising, creativity, reading, music theory, etc. When I was learning how to play guitar I would work with a pianist once or twice a week with ear training, creativity, and even music theory.Don't limit yourself.

Each of us has some natural ability of some kind. You may already know what yours is or you may not yet discovered it. If being a better musician is not coming easy for you that simply means you are like the rest of us.

Four Ways To Learn Play Guitar

With the increasing popularity of rock music during the last few decades, play guitar has become very appealing for many people. You might be wondering what does this have to do with trying to learn to play guitar by ear. As you will learn from this article, it actually has a lot to do with it.

Slowing Things Down

In order to learn to play guitar by ear you have to begin with learning the melodies, chords and leads from a recording. To be able to do this, you've got to slow them down a bit. Some exceptionally gifted people with really good ears are able to learn to play some slow songs just by listening to them at a normal speed. However, even those folks have problems with learning faster melodies and need to slow things down.

Most of us can't even figure out slow songs just by listening to them at a normal speed. While most of us can match a note with our guitar or voice if it's the only thing we're hearing, we tend to get confused when lots of notes are played together. If you slow the music down, we can separate the notes and play them piece by piece until we learn the whole song.

Slowdown Technology

Years ago, the slowing down process was done using half speed tape recorders. However, as you slowed the music down, the pitch dropped. By the time you got to half speed, the pitch had already dropped a lot. Anyway, for most of us, half speed is still to fast. You will probably need a 1/10 speed in order to figure out certain pieces.

Fortunately, nowadays everything has been made easier with the aid of digital slowdown technology. You can now slow the melody down as much as you want, without having the pitch dropping.

Do You Really Have to Put So Much Work Into It?

You're probably thinking that spending so much time on figuring out each note yourself must be awfully hard. Why not just buy a book and get over this part?

Of course, you can buy a book, but, as it usually happens with all music theory books, it will probably be gathering dust on your bookshelf forever. If you really want to learn to play guitar by ear, you will have to get involved in the process and figure out the notes from a melody yourself.

While figuring out note by note on your own is the best way to go, consulting a transcription book from time to time while you're trying to figure out the music is also good. Some beginner guitar players who want to learn to play guitar by ear learn from a transcription book first and then play along with the original recording at a slower pace to get the rhythm.

You should learn to play guitar by ear just because this way you get the most fun. Playing guitar should be fun and this is why you should have started to learn it in the first place. However, the more you time you invest into the learning process by getting involved in practical activities, the faster the progress.

Playing guitar is quite easy

If you have a passion for music and you have got all the instruments with you such as the guitar but don't how to initialize then here are certain tips that shall help you in learning your new skill.

First of all , you need to have on hand, is a guitar and then hold it on your lap with your left hand holding the neck and the right hand draped over the body of the guitar. We are going to use a six string guitar and play it with the right hand. Each string correspond to a musical note and starts with the thinnest string and working our way down to the thickest string – E, B,G,D,A and E again. You should not confuse yourself with the two E strings that are the same note and they differ in the way that the top E is two octaves higher than the bottom E if the guitar is tuned correctly.

The individual strings make up the chords and these chords are accomplished by playing certain notes or strings together at the same time. There are number of simple as well as complex chords but you need to learn A, D and E to play a part of the song.

The major A chord is played by placing the fingertips of the first three fingers on your left hand directly behind the first fret on the guitar. Frets are the bars on the neck of the guitar. When you count for finger positioning, you should ignore the first or largest fret bar. This might seem to be uncomfortable but later you shall accustom of the same. Press the strings down firmly and hold them one string per finger. Next use your right hand to strum the guitar strings from the top to bottom. Perform this act several times and listen to the sound you are producing.

The next major chord D should be played by using the same fingers. Place the index finger on the third string behind the first fret. Place the next finger on the first string behind the first fret. Again, hold the strings down at once and strum the guitar. Again do this and try to listen to the music being produced.

The third chord you need to learn is the E major and for this you have to place your index finger on the third string on the front of the first fret. Place the next finger on the fifth string behind the first fret and place your third finger on the fourth string behind the first fret. Again, hold the strings down at once and strum the guitar and listen to the sound that is being produced.

The last step is the tricky part and therefore to play a simple song you have to switch the positions of your fingers from chord to chord. This shall take some time to learn but if you practice you can do it surely.

Learn how to Play Guitar Online

If music is your passion and you want to know the basics to get success in music are trying to get some useful tips in case you are a beginner. Learning this skill will give you a sense of accomplishment. You can play at different events and occasions, it can even help you make some money when you become experienced.

New guitarists should know that there is no easy way in learning how to play guitar. You have to practice regularly, and it takes patience. It does not come easily, but you shouldn't get frustrated, this new skill will develop over time.

First comes first. Buying a guitar can be confusing and overwhelming. You should go to a music shop and pick them up and hold them try to choose one that feels comfortable and if you still can't decide talk to the shop assistant and see if they have any tips and tricks for picking the right guitar. Don't be fooled by the price tag most of the cheap guitars are fine to begin with. When you first learn to play guitar you will not need a fancy guitar as most of the features will go unused and will only get in the way. However as you improve you may want to upgrade in small stages to suit your level of experience.

There is a wide range of classes to learn to play guitar. Some classes are free or require a small donation. However most have a fee attached to cover the costs of teachers and equipment. When you participate in a free class, these are generally just as good as a paid class. All classes will help you with basics when you learn to play guitar. The best thing about classes is the hands on approach to learning; there is nothing better than having someone give you first hand knowledge on how to do something.

The more you practice the better you will get. There is not such thing as too much practice, but you should spread the practices out so you don't get too burned out to the point where playing isn't fun anymore. The whole point in learning to play is that it is something fun to do, if you don't find it enjoyable, you should not push yourself to do something that you don't like. Don't forget to share your new talent with other people, family, and friends. Music is to be enjoyed by all.

Tools For Learn to Play Guitar

Guitarists are insatiable learners and the world is full of great guitar learning material. First of all, there are countless tablature books which show you in the easy-to-learn play guitar tablature format how to play all your favorite songs even if you can't read sheet music. If you can read sheet music, then there is sheet music available for every popular artist and thousands of classical and lesser-known composers. There are also “method books” that teach how to play a particular style, and there are instructional guitar DVDs that show you and tell you everything a single guitarist knows how to do. There are books with CDs full of audio examples, there are DVDs that come with tablature books; the list of available guitar learning resources is endless.

Play guitar lessons are still the number one way that guitarists pick up new information. In-person play guitar lessons with a local guitar teacher are probably the most effective way to learn new things about play guitar. The world is full of part-time and full-time guitar teachers, who put their heart and soul into teaching their students how to be an ever-improving guitar learning machine. Guitar teachers are expensive, however, and not everyone has the money or the time to commit to in-person lessons. So while this is a truly effective method, it is not for everyone.

Over the last 5 years, online play guitar lessons have become an outstanding resource for guitarists wanting to learn of play guitar at a convenient pace and at very low cost. In my opinion, online play guitar lessons have come of age, and are now the best tool for learn to play guitar available to anyone anywhere. I don’t propose that online play guitar lessons should supplant books, sheet music, DVDs, and in-person guitar lessons. What I would like to suggest is that online play guitar lessons are more convenient, cheaper, more useable, and provide more breadth of information than any other method available.

Convenience: Tablature books are OK, as long as they come with some audio examples. DVDs are OK, as long as they come with a book. The problem is that keeping your place in the book and your place on the DVD in synch is difficult. Every time you take a break (every day basically) you lose your place and have to synch up all over again. Online play guitar lessons, on the other hand, solve the problem of synching the tab, explanation, and audio/video samples. A web page is the ultimate play guitar lesson format: audio, video, and text all together in one document.

Price: Books and DVDs have to be manufacturer, shipped, and inventoried. If you have ever burned a CD or made some copies at a copy shop, you know that manufacturing a product costs real money. Imagine if you had to turn around and sell your product at a profit? Shipping a book or DVD to the retailer is another expense in traditional publishing that occurs before the product is even ready to be sold. Inventory, the hidden expense, can be the largest: every month the book sits in the store, it costs the owner a percent of the price to pay for it to be kept out of the rain, and if the inventory is bought on credit, there is interest on the loan as well. All told, it is no wonder there are few places that sell guitar lesson products even in a large city.

Breadth: Guitar books generally can only have a few hundred pages; DVDs can only hold a couple of hours of video. A web site can expand to the size of a whole library full of books and DVDs. This is one aspect of the size advantage of online play guitar lessons, but the more important aspect is this: getting a book published is so difficult, that many great guitarists simply never try it. Publishing a web site is so easy that many fantastic guitarists who would never previously have published their knowledge can now publish their guitar lessons online where you can find them.

As you can see, online play guitar lessons have significant advantages that should make them an important part of any guitarist’s learning strategy. As the internet continues to grow, and the use of video on the internet spreads, look for online play guitar lessons to one day be the recognized leader in helping guitarists improve their skills in a convenient, inexpensive way.

Learn to Play Guitar - Free Tips for Beginner Guitar Players

Find a Good Teacher
There is no substitution for a good guitar teacher. You can buy all the books and videos you want, but in order to really become a good guitar player, you need to learn from a pro. A professional guitar teacher has the experience and wisdom necessary to teach you how to become a proper guitar player. Books, videos, and the Internet for that matter, lack in their ability to provide you with feedback and advice. A good guitar teacher will correct you if you are doing something wrong so that you don't form bad habits or techniques. A good guitar teacher will also encourage you when you are doing something right.

Do Not Get Discouraged
When first learning play guitar, or any instrument for that matter, you may find yourself getting discouraged, or perhaps saying to yourself "this is just too difficult". You may find yourself practicing the same song or chords over and over again, and never getting any better at it. Do not let this discourage you. Sometimes are brains just need a little rest, or need to be occupied with something else. Take a break and come back to your practice with a fresh mind.

Practice
The more often that you practice your guitar the more familiar you will become with the instrument. Your playing will become easier over time. Try and free up at least 20 minutes of time every day to practice your guitar. Find a time and location where you know you will not be interrupted. Interruption can really kill your concentration and snap you out of a good rhythm. Warm your hands and stretch your fingers before you play. Talk with your guitar teacher to develop the best practice exercises that are right for your style of playing.

Create an effective practice schedule
The length of your practice is not necessarily the most important thing. Usually it is the quality of your practice that is most important. Make sure your guitar teacher is giving you a well-rounded approach to play guitar and helping you make the most of your practice sessions.

Slow Down
One great bit of advice with your practicing; don't play too quickly! Many new guitar players will rush through a lick or a song in the beginning, trying to play it exactly as they hear it and only wind up butchering it. Before you can play anything correctly, you must learn to slow down and play it right at a much slower speed. You can then slowly increase your speed as you improve.

Watch your posture
Play guitar should not be extremely painful and uncomfortable. If you find yourself with various aches and pains in your shoulders, your neck, your back, etc., chances are you are not in a correct playing posture. Ask your guitar teacher to demonstrate a proper playing posture, then do your best to stick to it. Tell your teacher to observe you during practice and correct you whenever you fall out of the correct posture.

Get a metronome
A very important part of play guitar is the ability to keep good timing. An instrument, which will help you become better at timing, is called a metronome. You can purchase this at any guitar center. When working with a metronome, in the beginning, you should start off at a slow speed. This will help you build your muscles and develop better control and good playing habits.

Change your strings
Your guitar strings are very important to the quality of sound your guitar produces. How often you change your guitar strings really depends on how often you play. Professional guitar players may change their strings before every gig. Others who don't play as often, may change their strings every 2 months or so. Again it really depends on how often you play, and how well you take care of your guitar strings. Don't wait until your strings break before you change them and you should change all of your strings at the same time.

Try new things/experiment
If you feel uninspired when play guitar why not try something fresh and different? If you have mastered a particular song on your electric guitar, why not try the same song on an acoustic guitar? If you only play your guitar using a pick, put down the pick and just use your fingers. Perhaps you only enjoy playing blues guitar. Why not try some jazz or classical?

I hope these play guitar tips were helpful. The most important thing is to never get discouraged and never give up. Persistence is key when it comes to play guitar. If you really have a sincere desire to learn, and you continue to practice, you will become a better guitar player.

Learning the Basics of Play Guitar

You can buy either a second hand guitar or a brand new one, depending on whichever you think will suit you best.

Once you have bought yourself a guitar, you can actually start taking beginner lessons of play guitar. Beginner lessons are guitar classes taught to newcomers so they are familiar with the basics of the guitar and how to play guitar. The first thing you will be taught is not how to play the instrument, but what the different parts of the guitar are.

All websites providing online beginner play guitar lessons start their teachings from this point. This makes sense because it is not a good idea to learn a musical instrument without first knowing its various parts. Along with knowing each part of the guitar, you also have to learn the functions of each individual part. Knowing the different parts of the guitar and their functions familiarizes you with the instrument.

Basic Steps to Beginner Play Guitar Lessons
After teaching you the different parts of the guitar and their functions, the next thing beginner play guitar lessons teach you are the names of the different strings on the guitar. Did you know that all guitars do not necessarily have the standard six strings? There are guitars that have twelve strings too!

After learning about the strings, the next step is to learn the different ways you can play guitar. How many postures can you think of, in which to play guitar? While you can be imaginative and think up numerous postures, the basic postures are standing up, and sitting down!

Learning about the postures also teaches you the different grips you can use to hold the guitar while playing. Once you are through with these basics, the next thing that you learn in beginner play guitar lessons is actually how to use the guitar. This includes how to form the different chords, how to hit the strings such that you get the proper sound, etc.

Beginner Play Guitar Lessons - The Importance of Guitar Theory
There is one school of thought that emphasizes the need to know guitar theory while taking beginner play guitar lessons. The logic for this is simple: once you know the basic theory, it becomes easier to learn the chords. However, this is not a mandatory practice; in fact, many online guitar tutorials do away with the need for knowledge of guitar theory as a prerequisite for learning the chords and other complex things about the guitar.

Basically, the need for guitar theory knowledge depends primarily on your level of interest in the instrument. If you are planning to take up play guitar full-time, it makes sense to know the theoretical aspects as well. However, if you are taking it up as just something you want to learn so you can play some of your favorite numbers, then it makes sense to just go ahead with the online tutorials alone and learn the different chords.

Now that you have a solid game plan, it's time for you to get out there and start taking your own beginner play guitar lessons!

You Can Learn To Play Guitar

When you learn to play guitar it is one of the most rewarding things you can learn. It can be used at a variety of occasions and can also be used to make money when you become experienced. I will try to show you some simple steps to learn to play music on guitar, but it requires a lot of patience and even more practice.

You have to remember there is no easy way out you have to practice or you won’t perfect the things you have learn. Try not to get frustrated if it does not come to you straight away because it will develop over time.

Reference material

There is a wide range of reference materials available in book and video form. These are all available on the internet. Classes are also a great way to learn to play guitar. In the first few pages of most guitar books there is always a short riff, and easy song’s try. Start with them and practice those for a while until you are confident enough to continue.

Equipment

When it comes to buying a guitar go to a music shop and pick them up and hold them try to choose one that feels comfortable and if you still can't decide talk to the shop assistant and see if they have any tips and tricks for picking the right guitar. Don't be fooled by the price tag most of the cheap guitars are fine to begin with. When you first learn to play guitar you will not need a fancy guitar as most of the features will go unused and will only get in the way. However as you improve you may want to upgrade in small stages to suit your level of experience.

Classes and community lessons

There is a wide range of classes to learn to play guitar. Some classes are free or require a small donation. However most have a fee attached to cover the costs of teachers and equipment. When you participate in a free class, these are generally just as good as a paid class. All classes will help you with basics when you learn to play guitar. The best thing about classes is the hands on approach to learning; there is nothing better than having someone give you first hand knowledge on how to do something.

Practice make's perfect

There is no such thing as too much practice when you decide to learn to play guitar, but you need to spread that practice out. Don’t burn yourself out to the point where you stop enjoying playing. Always remember that it’s about having fun and the second it stops becoming fun don't do it anymore. There is no point pushing yourself to do something you don't want to do.

Always remember that when you learn to play guitar it's not just for you it's for everyone one else to enjoy as well so don't be afraid to share your new talent with your friends and family.

Play Guitar - A Reflection Of Your Soul

The guitar, be it electric or acoustic, is the most versatile of instruments. You can strum a few chords, adopt a highly disciplined classical guitar technique, or play sophisticated jazz chord and scale progressions. The choice is yours. Whatever your bag, the journey to achieving your goal and the fundamental sound is the real buzz.

It's a funny thing, but music is unlike most other activities. Take football for example, there is no escaping the fact that if you want to play pro-football you had better be good and there are no short cuts. Technique and fitness is an absolute must. Musical expression is different and shares may similarities with the spoken word. A few well chosen words can be far more effective than a tidal wave of sophisticated verbal statement. So it is with playing the guitar.

Arguably, the most successful singer songwriter who ever lived is Bob Dylan, whose delivery is based essentially on guitar sounds combined with an awesome skill as a lyricist. His musical structure is generally simple - but the simplicity of the music combined with great hook lines and lyrics is bang on the nail as a musical statement.

So the fact to take on board is that technical ability has little to do with musical talent. If your groove is a simple country, reggae or blues feel you can be damn good and highly relevant without being a technical genius. The simple player who plays with feel and taste is a musician, the same as a highly accomplished classical or jazz guitarist. It is amazing how formally trained musicians, i.e. classical, or other technical jazz players, are usually the most ineffective exponents of rock, country, pop or blues music.

Play guitar is essentially an attitude, combined with feel and the necessary musical knowledge to express what you wish to play. Don't be fooled into following the path of so many potentially great musicians and be fazed by more accomplished players. When you tune in to the simplicity of a player such as the great blues guitarist B. B. King, you can't help but be affected by his economy of notes, played in such a meaningful, soulful musical context.

Play guitar has an infinite number of possibilities. It is the most adaptable, useable instrument, and it's the journey to your goal that's the fun part. You will never stop learning guitar. Each time you pick it up you will discover something new and it needn't be hard to play to be relevant!

Learning the Basics of Play Guitar

You can buy either a second hand guitar or a brand new one, depending on whichever you think will suit you best.

Once you have bought yourself a guitar, you can actually start taking beginner lessons of play guitar. However, if you are taking it up as just something you want to learn so you can play some of your favorite numbers, then it makes sense to just go ahead with the online tutorials alone and learn the different chords.

Now that you have a solid game plan, it's time for you to get out there and start taking your own beginner play guitar lessons!

The First Step and Most Important Thing in Learning Play Guitar

The secrets of learning play guitar are mostly base on the foundation. To have a good foundation for future success,we need three important factors :-

1.Listening:
Ear training is a MUST basic training that every play guitar learner should have. But most of them avoid this as quite a boring and time-consuming job. Without a good listening, we are unable to move to higher level. To overcome this problems, I suggest that play guitar learners may choose one of the well known Ear Training software on internet. I found that there are few really good software that will improve your listening step by step and really FUN. You feel like playing game when you learn.

2.Daily practice: (Both fingers and ears)
Daily practice is another important thing we should do in play guitar learning cycle.(Ex.fingers exercises, practice for the basic scales) I suggest that beginners practice PENTATONIC SCALES at the starting point because this scales are the most simple scales that only have 5 tones. Try to practice 20 to 30 minutes daily. Remember that even just 20 minutes of RELAX and CONCERNTRATION DAILY practice is more effective than few hours of unconstant practice.

3.Look for a teacher:
You may find either private guitar teacher or guitar lessons on internet to improve your play guitar skills. For my opinions, learn guitar from internet maybe better because of the convenience of time and cheaper. There is just one question of learning from internet that what lessons to choose, what lessons are really work.
